The Supreme Court rules that a labor union's boycott of industry restricts trade and is illegal--first time the Sherman Antitrust Act is applied to labor unions.

Congress passes a bill regulating child labor in Washington D.C. hoping the separate states would do the same.

The Root-Takahira Agreement between the United States and Japan upholds the Open Door Policy.

The U.S. Supreme Court upholds Oregon's law limiting women's working hour in industry.

Republican William Taft (Roosevelt's choice) is elected President of the United States.

Henry Ford introduces the Model T which cost $850. By 1909 his company is turning out 19,000 automobiles a year. Ford makes his operation so efficient that by 1926 the cost drops to $310.

Movies houses call nickelodeons, first established in 1905, now number about 8,000 throughout the country. Usually set up in empty stores, they show continuous movies with piano accompaniment. Tickets were 5 cents
